'Gingerbread House' Paintings

The gingerbread house paintings are a continuation of my previous paintings, predominantly of sweets and candies. I saw these bright sticky things as a metaphor for paint and painting.

The Hansel and Gretel story is also an initial inspiration, but as I've worked on this series, I've discovered what I want to do is create my own landscapes with these objects, and make scenes that show the process of time as things dissolve and melt away. My hope is that they combine ideas of landscape painting with those of still life.
